School Readiness at FGCCC
High Quality Early Education
Our Echidna Preschool Room is designed to provide children with a strong foundation for school and beyond, ensuring a smooth and confident transition to formal education. With our dedicated room, accommodating up to 20 children and guided by two passionate full time educators—including a university-qualified early childhood teacher—we offer a nurturing and engaging environment where children can thrive.
At Fern Gully CCC, we implement a daily transition-to-school program that introduces essential skills to prepare children for a successful start to school life. This includes:
✔ Foundation writing
✔ Pre-numeracy awareness
✔ Cutting and pasting skills
✔ Sequencing, matching, and classifyingBeyond academics, we emphasise social, emotional, and self-help skills, helping children build confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Our structured routines include a daily assembly, where children participate in singing the National Anthem, an Acknowledgement to Country, and 'Munch and Move' program experiences—encouraging physical activity and healthy habits.
Engaging Outdoor Learning Spaces
Our outdoor environment is rich with opportunities for exploration and discovery, featuring:
- Spacious outdoor play areas
- A bush tucker garden, where children help water plants, feed chickens, and collect eggs and herbs to share with their families
