• Health at Fern Gully

At Fern Gully Child Care Centre, we understand that your child's health is of the utmost importance.

We aim to provide a safe, healthy and happy environment for your children. There are a few steps and processes we ask our parents to undertake to ensure the safety of not just their child, but all children throughout the centre.

    Immunisation Records

Our centre is required to keep a record of your child's immunisation details and documentation.

Upon enrolment, you will be asked to bring a copy of your child's Immunisation History Statement. This can be easily accessed on the Medicare website.

When your child's immunisations are updated, please provide an updated Immunisation History Statement.

    Medication

If your child requires medication, you must first complete a Medical Authority Form (found on our Kinderm8 app). All medications, including topical treatments, must be handed to a staff member on arrival.

Medicines must be supplied in their original dispensed container, with a current use-by date and the prescribed instructions. Prescription medicines will only be given to the child named on the prescription, and doses will not exceed those stated on the instructions.

Parents are responsible for collecting all medications at pick-up.

    Allergies & Dietary Requirements

We are an allergy-aware centre. To help keep every child safe, foods containing nuts or nut products are not permitted at the centre. All meals and snacks are provided by the centre, and individual allergies and dietary needs are carefully catered for.

Please let us know about any food or drink allergies or intolerances, including lactose and gluten intolerance, when you enrol and whenever anything changes.

Action plans for children with asthma, anaphylaxis or any other medical condition must be provided on enrolment and updated every year.

    If Your Child Is Unwell

If your child is showing symptoms of an infectious illness, please keep them at home. Examples include heavy colds, diarrhoea and vomiting, head lice, impetigo and measles.

The centre director may send home a child who is showing symptoms of these illnesses, or who is showing signs of being unwell.

Before your child returns to the centre, you must provide a medical clearance certificate stating that they are clear of infection. More information on these illnesses can be found in our handbook.
