    School Readiness Program

    A strong foundation for school

Our Echidna Preschool Room gives children a strong foundation for school and beyond, supporting a smooth and confident transition to formal education. Children aged 3 to 5 take part in one of two programs: the Preps, for children not yet starting school the following year, and the Graduates, for children starting school the following year.

Our daily transition-to-school program introduces the essential skills children need for a successful start to school life:
    • Foundation writing
    • Pre-numeracy awareness
    • Cutting and pasting skills
    • Sequencing, matching and classifying

    More than academics

We place equal emphasis on social, emotional and self-help skills, helping children build confidence, independence and a love for learning. Our routines include a daily assembly, where children sing the National Anthem, share an Acknowledgement of Country and take part in Munch and Move experiences that encourage physical activity and healthy habits.

    We also focus on:
    • Social and emotional preparation
    • Communication and teamwork
    • Understanding rules and boundaries
    • Confidence in asking and answering questions
    • Looking after belongings and self-help skills

    Learning outdoors

Our outdoor environment is rich with opportunities for exploration and discovery, including spacious play areas and a bush tucker garden, where children help water the plants, feed the chickens, and collect eggs and herbs to share with their families.

By nurturing curiosity, resilience and a love for learning, our School Readiness Program ensures each child feels confident, capable and excited for their next educational adventure.
